Michigan stuffs Alabama and punches a ticket to Houston

On a 4th down, already in first Overtime, Michigan stopped a QB sneak by Alabama’s Jalen Milroe to seal what proved to be an improbable win.

Favored going into the matchup, Michigan struggled as expected against Nick Saban’s Alabama team that had come prepared to battle. Jim Harbaugh was back on the sidelines for the Wolverines and had a first-hand look at how difficult this game was going to be for his pupils.

The Rose Bowl had just about everything to start off 2024 with a packed action of College Football. Both teams stalled constantly during the game and had to punt consistently on drives, with defenses being completely dominant. The second half had only two touchdowns and a field goal, after a 23 point first half (Michigan missed an extra point).

But it was the Overtime drives that decided the fate of both schools this time, as Michigan was methodical and direct, while Alabama showed overconfidence in their skillset evidently non-existent in the final drive. They required two fourth down conversions, only getting one of them and ending their season in disarray. Now Michigan will await the winner of Texas and Washington to round up the College Championship.
